USAID Funding Termination – A Major Setback to 2025 Programs

Thursday, February 27

On February 26, 2025, USAID informed us that the pause on funding has turned into a termination, following the Executive Order on Reevaluating and Realigning U.S. Foreign Aid issued on January 25, 2025. This termination of funding has significant implications for Rozana's operations and our planned initiatives for 2025.

This directly impacts several of our key programs:

  • Joint Israeli Palestinian Clinical Education Activities – Sessions fostering collaboration among Palestinian and Israeli health professionals to improve clinical expertise and patient outcomes.
  • Expanded Health Diplomats Programs – Leadership development for Palestinian and Israeli nurses and allied health professionals, now at risk of delays or reduction.

  • Women4Women Program – Essential maternal and reproductive healthcare services for Palestinian women in marginalized communities now face uncertainty.

  • Diabetes Workshops and Research – Extended efforts to enhance diabetes management and education may experience significant delays.

A major immediate casualty was our planned Diabetes Simulation Day Training scheduled for January 26 in Jerusalem, where 40 Palestinian diabetes specialists were set to train alongside the Sheba Medical Center diabetes team. On Saturday night, we were forced to cancel the event, withdrawing permits, halting transportation, canceling facilities and catering, and disbanding the training teams—delivering a demoralizing blow to our collective efforts.

This economic and operational strain on Rozana is immediate and substantial. We are actively exploring alternative funding to sustain our projects and will keep our supporters informed of developments.

Your support today is more critical than ever.
