Mental Health Programs

In the current climate of ongoing conflict and upheaval, the need for robust mental health support has never been more urgent. Many individuals and communities face relentless stress and trauma, which makes comprehensive mental health projects vital for fostering resilience and healing. Rozana is actively involved in several key initiatives to address these critical needs and build mental health capacity in the region.

Binational School of Psychotherapy

The EU-funded Binational School of Psychotherapy program successfully concluded with a ceremony in Beit Jala in early July. The event highlighted the strong commitment of Israeli and Palestinian mental health workers to continue their collaboration. Despite the ceremony being held in the West Bank, all Israeli participants attended, underscoring their dedication to this initiative. The relationships built through this program form a foundation for continued cooperation and support among mental health professionals across the region.

USAID-Funded Mental Health Program

Building on the success of the Binational School, Rozana is excited to announce our involvement in a new USAID-funded mental health program run by Hadassah Hospital. This program will begin in October 2023, and Rozana will play a crucial role by providing peacebuilding and Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) components. Our expertise in these areas will enhance the program's effectiveness in cultivating "health diplomats" who can navigate the complexities of providing mental health care in a conflict-ridden region. By integrating peacebuilding into mental health training, we aim to equip professionals with the skills to foster resilience and support in their communities.

ERASE-Stress: Empowering Mediterranean Youth for Resilience (EMPOWERMED) On May 30, we submitted the ERASE-Stress: Empowering Mediterranean Youth for Resilience (EMPOWERMED) program proposal. This comprehensive initiative, facilitated by Rozana, aims to address the mental health challenges faced by youth amidst ongoing conflicts, natural disasters, and displacement in the Mediterranean basin. If successful, the program will involve several partners, including: The Center for Compassionate Mindful Education (CCME), Israel: Targeting youth recently displaced by terror and war. Green Land Society for Health Development, Palestine: Focusing on youth in the West Bank living under ongoing occupation. Federation of Mental Health and Department of Special Education, University of Thessaly, Greece: Supporting displaced youth, including refugees. Hanan Foundation, Turkey: Aiding youth displaced by the earthquake. EMPOWERMED, also known as EPIC Youth (Empowering Palestinian and Israeli Communities for Youth Resilience), emphasizes the involvement of educators, parents, and community or spiritual leaders. This program builds the capacity of non-professional community members to enhance early detection and awareness of mental health concerns in children and adolescents. By empowering local communities, we aim to create a network of support that addresses mental health challenges proactively and compassionately.
