Jerusalem Palliative Care Initiative

Amidst escalating tensions, Rozana's Jerusalem Palliative Care Initiative (JPCI) stands as a light tower illuminating hope. The JPCI seeks to forge partnerships among five Israeli and Palestinian medical institutions in Jerusalem (Sha’are Zedek Medical Center, Hadassah Medical Center, Augusta Victoria Hospital, Al Makassed Hospital, and St. Louis French Hospital, fostering understanding among over 100 Palestinian and Israeli palliative care professionals and allied health experts. These efforts are designed to promote cross-cultural understanding in the city of Jerusalem, and elevate healthcare provision, particularly in end-of-life care

In May, we had the honor of hosting Rabbi Yaakov Glasman of St Kilda Synagogue and Catholic Archbishop Peter Comensoli from Melbourne. Their visit to Augusta Victoria Hospital in East Jerusalem included a roundtable discussion that highlighted the collaborative atmosphere and the shared commitment to compassionate care. The involvement of these Australian religious leaders underscores the importance of interfaith dialogue and cooperation in our peacebuilding efforts. This visit not only strengthened the ties between our institutions but also garnered positive media coverage, showcasing the impact of our work on a global stage.
